I saw American Sniper last night. This film serves as a soul cleansing examination of our national conscience. There is no glorification of war here. It isn't the action packed war movie that makes you pump your fist. There's plenty of good action scenes but the film is mostly a somber thought provoker. The family and filmmakers did an outstanding job publicizing the hardships and pain that returning veterans and military families endure. I believe Chris Kyle is today proud to own that in his legacy. The most worthwhile part of the movie for me was the scene of Marc Lee's funeral. The SEAL tradition of pinning their tridents with their fallen brother forever is one of the best in the United States military. And this film made you feel like you were there when they gave their final farewells to Marc. This movie will make you laugh at times and cry at others. It will depress you to some extent, it will make you think about some really tough issues, but we Americans owe it to every Iraq veteran to go see it. God bless and many thanks to every one of those fine patriots, especially my brother Billy who served closely with Chris Kyle, and my Ranger brothers who made me go see the film.
