world of Foley and support him completely. But if you really want him to succeed, you must be willing to tell him when he is wrong. He has surrounded himself with like thinkers.

As I progressed through my career, I learned that my most valuable subordinates were those that challenged every decision I made but came on board after tons of discussion.

Foley really needs this. He has let the facilities in football deteriorate to some of the worst in the conference. He has made really bad decisions in selecting football coaches and women's basketball coaches,

He has made horrible business decisions in negotiating the Contract for Muschamp.

I guarantee this alone would have resulted in his firing if he worked in the private sector.

So he really needs those who work for him to tell him when you think he is wrong.

He needs people to point out areas that need improvement even if they are not popular.

As fans, we can criticize recent poor football seasons (sandwiched around a Sugar Bowl berth), diminishing facilities perceived to harm football recruiting, and the ability of a fired coach to recruit against us. But do those lapses suggest Jeremy Foley is failing?

Regardless of his role employing Spurrier or Meyer, on Foley's watch, UF earned three football national championships, two basketball titles, five Final Four appearances, and success in baseball and women's sports that were mere dreams before his tenure. 

These achievements took place shortly after the University of Florida was the face of corruption and cheating in college athletics. Living outside the state at the time, I know that is how the Gators were perceived.

Now, Foley is considered nationally as a paragon of doing things the right way. UF athletics is one of the top brands in sports marketing. The UFAA makes a ton of money. We are building infrastructure to support our new coach. Enthusiasm is renewed.

Managers are held reponsible for outcomes no matter how they occur. No one employing due diligence would assess him as failing.

I hope Foley does some of the things you recommend. Good leaders learn from mistakes and allow critics within their inner circle. Foley has demonstrated unprecedented success leading UF athletics. I suspect he is doing both.
