15 years ago or maybe even 10, the news of this championship probably does not reach the masses until a day or two later. now we see it happening live or hear about it moments after the event happens

 now, softball lacrosse and other women's sports make the news via the internet social media and other ways that were not too accessible a decade or so ago.

so my teenage daughters watch collegiate women sports, mostly soccer and it matters to them ---in a group of athletic and sports minded friends, and it matters to their dads and moms. I could blather on and on and how sports helps young women in ways that are more than just physical. if you are the dad of a daughter who plays sports, you know that already. if you've ever walked off of a muddy wet and cold practice field with your daughter, in the near dark, with a filthy, sweaty and tired child you know these things matter

so while it will never reach the level of basketball or football, its a source of pride for this Gator and something you can  tangibly point to and say that women's sports matter even if only on a smaller stage for a short duration.

so you can have the argument about women's sports and revenue producing income on another thread. national championships of any type are a very rare coin and to have three in a row regardless of the sport means it's great to be a Florida Gator this morning
