Message Replied To ========== Chemo, thinking and praying for you and your family! * ============================== The past two weeks have been a whirlwind...I have been on the phone discussing her case with all the people I know at Moffitt, MD Anderson and Sloan-Ketterring. My wife has many, many positive nodes and a highly aggressive subtype which makes her prognosis very high risk. There is a new drug which is not yet approved for situation but everyone agrees it gives her the best odds so we will be buying it with cash and giving it to her. I am glad I can afford it, because most people couldn't. I am still running my practice and being "Mr Mom" since my wife can't do all the things she used to do (shopping, laundry, washing clothes, cleaning the houseetc). And she did a lot. Single parenthood looks like it sucks. My wife is very brave. We have been walking two to three miles on the beach every day. She will get the drains out today and then we leave for France tomorrow. This was a religious/medical pilgrimage in which we were part of a medical team taking terminally ill people to the Catholic shrine at Lourdes. This group, The Order of St John Hospitaler-Knights of Malta (yes, the very same organization was part of the Crusades) took me when I was ill and invited my wife and I to join when I recovered. My wife was insistent that we go. She will start her year+ of chemotherapy shortly after we return. |
