"Positives and negatives. Nothing else?..." |

It is odd watching this board after a hire in football and (for the first time in a long time) basketball. You certainly have your positive people and your negative people. What I don't like about the positives is some do tend toattack the negatives personally. Don't ask me to give an example I am doing this the way my college english teacher graded my writing papers, holistically. "It just feels like an "A". Well, it just feels lika a personal attack sometimes. What I don't like about the negatives is they seem to assume too many things for my liking. I use assume because they have no way of knowing (as far as I know) some of the things they are saying. This is only an economical hire, he never considered coach xyz. They also seem to base it on 2 bad football hires and not the totality of Foley's work. Isn't there anything other than those 2 positions? Me, I am neither positive or negative about the hiring of Mike White. I don't have the time before a hire is announced to research all potential names. I can only go by what I hear on talk radio or this fine interwebz board of Mud's. I don't know if this is a good or bad hire. It looks good to me based on what I have read to this point (away from this board). Other than hear I have seen nothing negative on the guy. I look at the totality of Foley's hires and he is real good at this. A high B or low A grade. The only real big marks, IMHO, against him are the firing of Andy Lopez, the hiring of Zook and the delay in firing Muschamp. He has also hired Walton, O'Leary, Troy, Holloway, Thornquist, Meyer and Donovan. All have either won NCAA Championships or have been competative at the very highest of levels in thier sport. So Foley, for me, has earned the presumption of being right. I also know that no one is perfect and if this hire does not work out I will not be calling for Foley's head. |
