"The rule book says on tampering with the game balls:"

He should, the NFL has over reacted. I would think the Pats might complain also..

slightly greater penalty than Spygate but they have a weaker case as a team and seem to be repeat offenders.

I think Brady gets suspended but not 4 games when all is said and done.

==============================

If any individual alters the footballs, or if a non-approved ball is

used in the game, the person responsible and, if appropriate, the head

coach or other club personnel will be subject to discipline, including

but not limited to, a fine of $25,000.”

So they leave a nebulous and smarmy window to up the penalty, and in NE's case as repeat offenders a reasonable increase is expected. However, to take a base fine of $25,000 and then add in multiple suspensions, lost high draft picks and an added $975,000 fine to the team (40 times the stated penalty) and toss in what amounts to a $2,000,000 fine on a single player (80 times the stated penalty) is like being ticketed for jaywalking and getting twenty years.

The NFL is a joke.  The incident is a joke. And most certainly this penalty is a joke.
