Just a blatant violation of Constitutional rights. I have no doubt it helps in the "well-intentioned", but completely useless, drug war. That doesn't justify it. Worse, it destroys the trust we should all want to have in government. A properly-functioning government is essential to free society. Sadly, people are losing confidence in government. Liberals are disgusted by unwarranted police violence. Conservatives are disgusted by Obamacare. Libertarians are disgusted by civil asset forfeiture . We've come a long way since the 1950s. Unfortunately it was in the wrong direction. |
