My beloved alma mater had a team that provided high drama.With athletes wearing -proudly - a jersey with "Gators" right there on the front, for their team. Which is more than about 99.5% of all gators who went to school there have done. 

 I sat at home on a sunny Sunday with my 2 kids grumbling about mistakes just like when I watch one of the two sports that matter. I heard one of own yelling at the TV to "come on score" while my spouse - an Auburn grad- grimaced and yelled "OH NO!" when a tiger made a mistake. 

Athleticism, grit, gumption, performance under pressure, viewing some of that odd stuff going on in front of the gators dugout ..

 I don't know. Sure seemed like the sport MATTERED to my gators.

 What else that matters? That these young ladies get to keep playing. So we get to keep doing the chomp. And talking gator sports in fricking june. 

 Hopefully my happiness over a gators WIN won't cast too much of a pall on others.
