Why are so many in the mainstream working so hard to insist he isn't as great as Secretariat? This just in..we know.

But..

This is the first time in 37 years a horse has won the Triple Crown. In the past 36 years, there have been strong fields, weak fields, specialty horses, mediocre horses, well rested horses, big fields, small fields, great track conditions, horrible track conditions (his mother was a mudder!), borderline super horses, almost triple crown winners and countless other variables and conditions. Yet, in those 36 years, no one did what this horse did.

I can't think of any other adjective other than "great" to describe someone (something) who did what hasn't been done in 37 years.

Is he the greatest of all time? Decidedly not. But to suggest he isn't one of the all time greats in the face of overwhelming evidence is simply a product of our "Meh" Generation.
