I have likely dealt with more death than most people my age but it sure doesn't get any easier. Thoughts and prayers for the Hilliard family would be much appreciated. George is actually deployed and can't be there. This journey called life makes less sense the older I get.....

My brother George has been active duty Navy for 13+ years. He has lived, worked, sweat, cried, and bled with some of America's best pilots and warriors. Only one of his fellow Navy men was chosen to be in his wedding last year however. Lieutenant Drew Hilliard was someone who just did everything right, US Naval Academy class of 2005, and noble leader aboard the USS Reagan CVN 76. Heaven has a new officer on deck tonight. Cancer will never touch his soul. Drew, we love you and none of us DeGennaros will ever forget you. You beat cancer in my book. You looked that wicked son of a bitch straight in the eye with the defiance of John Paul Jones. You fought him with honor, extreme bravery, and through all the suffering, never once let him phase you. That's victory. Fair winds and following seas, Lieutenant, keep watch on us until we see you again.
