"I recently gave my 2006 Benz to a needy Iraq / Afghanistan veteran...."

Any good advice on how to get rid of car w/little value($1000?)? Donate? C's List? Trade? Junk?

2000 Ford Explorer...nice, clean condition...but showing first signs of bad transmission($1400 to replace).

I gotta find the title. It's been a good car...moved all my possessions in it...drove it cross-country. Just shouldn't hold three cars. Going to replace it with a 200 dollar trailer wagon from Harbor Freight that I can use for projects.

It was probably worth $5000 or so but #badword# it. It's worth way more than that to him and they weren't going to give me that much trade in. Go to your local American Legion or VFW and they probably know plenty of guys or gals who'd be thrilled to have your Explorer. I didn't sweat it but they'd likely be glad to give you credit for a deduction- give it to the charitable organization first then they give it to the needy.

Hope this doesn't come off as bragging about my good deed. I am still a pretty worthless #badword#. You will be glad though if you help somebody out in this way, veteran, or whoever else. A dependable vehicle is key to get most anyone out of poverty.
