"You should watch the videos"in response to OK, I'll bite., posted by Jean Voljean |

Message Replied To ========== OK, I'll bite. I haven't and don't intend to watch the videos but have seen both the pro life activists and MSM synopses. 1. I have no problem with harvesting aborted fetus organs given the informed consent of the patient. To the extent that's what PP was discussing, I don't see it as different than that I have made it clear every way I know how to donate my organs when I die. Organs are of no use to a dead Jean Voljean or an aborted fetus. 2. I donate blood knowing that the blood bank in turn charges hospitals over a hundred dollars per pint when I do. I understand costs and am fine with that. To the extent the PP medical director was simply following that practice, I am fine with it. 3. If the abortion technique that preserves fetuses is different than what PP otherwise would have done, then this is either an insignificant difference or an important one. The PP person said she would check, which seems reasonable. 4. I feel no need to defend PP. If a fair reading of the facts shows that what they are doing with regard to aborted fetus donations is illegal or unethical, so be it. Punish them accordingly. But that does not change my opinion on abortion or organ donations. 5. I understand y'all are outraged. But then, on what day are you not outraged? Speaking of harvesting, if Conservative Americans keep up this unrelenting careening from one fit of apoplexy to another, I anticipate that in the near future there will come a day when you all drop dead from catastrophic brain aneurisms. Then the rest of us can harvest your assets and divvy them up. ============================== Keep in mind these things as you do: 1) It is expressly illegal to profit off of organ harvesting and aborted fetal parts. This law exists because we, as a society, so not wish to incentivize death. 2) it is illegal for the abortion providers to alter their procedure for the express purpose of harvesting tissue 3) This is one of multiple times PP has been caught skirting the few laws which regulate abortion. Abortion is one of the LEAST regulated aspects of all medicine. I have more regulations I must follow to do simple bone marrow biopsies in my office.. and that is much less invasive of a procedure. 4) over 1/3 of planned parenthoods income comes from federal funding and federal grants. They have been caught collecting money for breast cancer screening and mammograms BUT NOT ACTUALLY PROVIDING THOSE SERVICES. The issue is not whether abortion should remain legal, but whether this specific organization should be given another second, third, fourth or fifth chance and receive federal funding when almost any other healthcare provider would be kicked out of all federal programs for violations such as this. |
