Message Replied To ========== Briles etc completely miss the point (and probably deliberately).....
Really, as in punch-a-guy-in-the-face-if-I-would-not-go-to-jail angry.
No less than 5 times I have discussed the issue with nole fans. Not a rub your face in it argument, but a simple question like "what do you think of these 2 incidents?" Man on woman physical violence. Almost immediately, and I mean before they saw boo about their players's violent acts, they launch into a laundry list of past Gator trangressions.
NO
I want to know what you think about these violent acts against women. What you want the punishment to be if any. What you think of the F$U handling of this. Coach Art, what are you telling your players? I bet you tell their parents that you are their dads when each is on campus. You drilling into them each week what right and wrong are?
From where I am as a dad of young ladies who will soon (I hope) be off to college, this needs an airing. It's punishment of a grown ass man, a physical specimen who could probably beat up any average over 40 adult male, punching the crap out of a woman. Set the example.Be the leader and the dad for once.
Sending a message isn't enough. It's multiple messages. Players are gone. Go to their mommas and daddies and tell them that they too are responsible for raising their kids.
Talk to the students in a very public way that you want THEM to be your eyes and ears. If a 19 year old kid is entering a bar, going past the front door guy, past a bouncer, to the bar, ordering an alcholic beverage, tell everyone down the chain- hey man, that's wrong. You're not 21, why risk it all when you have the opportunity to wear the garnet and gold? If you are behind the restaurant bar and a freshman football sensation that you know orders a bud- YOU tell that kid no.
Send your players a text, a post on Instagram, or Snapchat reminding them that people are watching. Tell me as a dad and as guy who loves college football that you are doing something all the time. Not just reacting.
I want the nole person to stand up for what is right, opinion wise. I want that person to write Fisher, the Pres, hell whoever he wants and say, I don't agree with this and you have to do MORE. If 10,000 of those emails went to the Prez, you think that he responds in public?
I want the money people to raise hell and cut the crap about letting "the criminal justice system" handle it. Don't let it get to that.
Boys will be boys happens when a handful of players get caught in a car with beer and there are under age kids in the car. I get that.
Make the players sit through domestic violence discussions. Hear a victim. Talk to the mom of the woman that is sexually assaulted and have her describe the life sentence of horrible memories that you can't simply delete.
Until you take real, substantive and very very public steps, your program is sh#t. I just go back to the Therapist's night. The woman is examined and she has blood on her underwear. That the dad drove 100 mph at times to get to his baby girl, his princess. Is a video of a hard punch to the face OF A WOMAN what you want to be as the face of your team?
Start there, not with the gators. Because if your 12 year old son goes to Doak Campbell and asks you where is Dalvin Cook, are you going to start listing prior bad acts by Gators?
