"Ha ha, Mel Kiper laughs at Ditka. You must have the tools to play, else failure is certain" |
|
Message Replied To ========== If Ditka were still coaching, "I would acquire Tim Tebow, too"... "If I was coaching today I would acquire Tim Tebow, too," he said. "I'd find places to use him on my football team. I think players like Tim Tebow are good for sports. Good for football. Good for our country. "He has character. You can't buy character. A lot of people say they have it, but they don't when it comes down to the nitty-gritty. You've got a guy right there who will be there right til the end. I'm not saying he's the most talented guy. But, you can get a lot of productivity out of him in some areas. I think Chip will use him properly. That's all. "There's always a place on your football team for character. You're gonna have a lot of spots on your team that don't have it, so you can afford to keep a guy that has that kind of character. If the game of sport is all about talent, you have to have people that are good in a lot of areas. "I'm not saying you can win a championship with a guy who is a marginal passer, but I think he has the talent. If I was Chip, I would find out what that talent is. I know what he'll do ... He'll try to use him. He'll try to use Tebow to the way he can best help the Eagles." ==============================Jamarcus Russell has the tools and he's a can't miss prospect. Ryan Leaf has it all, the Pro Bowl is certain for him. NFL front offices agree! Character matters? Really? Who knew? What difference could it possibly make? Hard work? Persistence? Dedication? Focus? Who needs players like that on their team? Especially if they are 6'3" and weigh 240 sculpted muscular pounds and run a 4.5 forty like Tebow. What could you possibly do with a kid like that when he only had a completion percentage of 67.1% for his career, an SEC record. He can hardly complete a pass, right? He only completed 661 of them in college. For 9,286 yards and 88 TD's. But he did have those 15 INT's, although somehow his TD to INT ratio was the best in SEC history. The kid obviously can't throw the ball. Oh, and he did have those 57 rushing TD's too, but he won't be able to run in the NFL. Jimmy Clausen and Christian Ponder are NFL ready. These are NFL QB's. Carolina made a great move taking Clausen and look how well he's done there. Ponder is still the man in Minnesota, isn't he? Only a fool would waste time giving Tebow a shot in the NFL. Belichik and Chip Kelly clearly don't know what they are doing. i can understand why nobody else would be interested in giving him a look after his abject failure in leading Denver to the playoffs after a 1-4 start under NFL QB Kyle Orton. Kyle Orton certainly got shot after shot to prove himself after that poor showing in Denver, but why should Tebow when he helped salvage the season and had his unforgettable performance against a stout Steeler defense in a playoff win against the recent Super Bowl champions. Why again has nobody ever said Cam Newton should change positions and be an H back or TE like Tebow? Was he NFL ready coming out of the spread that Auburn ran? RGIII is clearly the exception to the rule according to NFL front offices and all the evaluators who get paid a lot of money to make these assessments and predictions. He's the one who'll break the mold. Under no circumstances should Tebow be viewed the same way, nor should he be given the same opportunity. The NFL always gets it right. Ditka is clearly a fool. Where is Merrill Hoge when you need him? |
