Just getting in from watching my poor Pensa Blue Wahoos get eliminated from the playoffs (AA Baseball). And maybe a few fun activities afterwards that went on entirely too long. Haven't been up quite this late since...well...the days I used to post dumb crap here regularly.

Just had the opportunity to read most of McElwain's post-game comments and see some of them expressed emotionally on tv. I have no idea what has been said in threads below mine as I just jumped on here to say my piece. Hopefully others are along my lines of thinking but I wouldn't be surprised for people still wishing for some combination of Doug Dickey/Zook/Muschamp as their are weird people in this world who strive for eternal mediocrity-at-best.

For me, I heard EXACTLY what I needed to hear from the leader of a Gator football team tonight! This is what has been needed for so damned long, including the latter parts of the Meyer Era. A singular totalitarian dictator who shall enforce absolute control over the personnel and the behavior of said personnel...entirely. If that means everyone on this team should quit and UF starts over....fine. It certainly won't come to that as I am confident these guys are gonna come to love someone who actually demands accountability. I think they already love it and understand they are now under the fold of someone who can lead them out of the athletic and personal wasteland that they have ben allowed to live in since they've been at UF. But with the full and not uncertain knowledge that if they don't want to be a part of growing up...just go away and play elsewhere if you can.

Fortunately I don't think it'll come close to that. I think these players are hungry to buy what McElwain is selling. They just have to be broken of the habits of an administration that has since moved to Auburn to poison kids into almost losing to Franklin Middle School.

I'd honestly give this guy more years than either Zook or Muschamp to fix this team if it was needed because he has several things going for him that those other guys never actually had. An actual plan is one. A desire to whip the mess into shape is another. A concept of how to attack on offense is a plus. A theory to develop talent rather than just accrue it is nice. So, I'm all about giving this guy time to fix the train wreck he was handed.

But, funny thing about actual good coaches. Most don't really need much, if any, time. They can run off good individual players, miss recruiting cycles which costs talented individuals, etc....and yet you still see almost immediate and undeniable progress for a TEAM. I'm offering McElwain piles of time to do what must be done before I gripe. Yet he wont need it. Good coaches rarely do.
