do give him a non European world view, I see his primary motivation as being one in which he is reflexively resistant to getting the US involved in any long term foreign entanglements. Both of those traits could actually be seen as positive traits if applied correctly.

Obama's greatest weakness, however, is the same one that almost ALL American politicians have fallen into for the past several decades. This applies to BOTH parties equally:

They no longer believe in the Constitution and the American form of governance.

Both Bush's and Clinton demonstrated this when they placed US forces into prolonged combat situations without a DOW from Congress. Obama demonstrates it when he enters into long term treaty arrangements which are high risk for our country without consulting the Senate.

The checks and balances are written in to our Constitution for a reason. They make sure we are all in as a nation before making serious commitments such as war..or peace. It is our human nature to choose sides and teams, and we NEED voices of dissent to put the brakes on any drum beats for war. And on the other side, there are times that we should resort to military force when necessary.

We look to our Presidents but the reality is..the US House and senate have failed us since WWII because they have shirked their Constitutional duty time and again because of political expediency.
