have given me the most fun that I've had watching college football since I was at UF as a student.
Now that does not take away from the 2008 MNC season in any way (because I loved that season)...still... I've actually had more fun this year.
All I wanted from this group was to see improvement, something to provide the staff with momentum in recruiting. Instead, we were all given a special season.
I would have been happy with 1 win in October...we had 3.
Not just that, but I even had fun with our 1 loss to LSU. I enjoyed the hell out of that game. Sure, we got pushed around in the first half (which sucked), but our boys won the second half (IMO) and it took a fake field goal to beat us. We took a team that wasn't supposed to beat many and almost took down an LSU team that is loaded for bear...in a NIGHT GAME at DEATH VALLEY.
But what happened after the game I think sums up the change we've seen in Gainesville. Following the heartbreaking loss, Mac didn't cry, faint, need hospitalization, or even mope. Instead, he spoke about how great the game was and his pride for his team. And you know what, he was right...it was a great game.
Another example of the change in culture we are seeing could be found in the way our team enjoyed the big win against Ole Miss. The fun was infectious and will pay dividends on NSD.
People say that it's the journey not the destination that matters. Well, this season proves that saying correct for me because are nearing the end of this trip and I've loved every second of it.
Oh, and if we lose to FSU...or even Vandy...keep in mind...we are playing with house money.
The Mighty Gators are bowl eligible despite having an OL put together with freshmen and duct tape and losing their QB 6 games in. We truly are playing with house money.
Oh, and did I mention that we beat UT, Ole Miss, and UGA? Very cool.
