And that's the irony, the students think they are on the side of free speech and thought, when their acts actually chill speech and academic freedom.

Situations like this make me very happy that I work at a Southern university, but I wonder how long until it reaches us down here.

Now let's turn attention to the Mizzou situation. Why did that result in change where all these other protests rarely result in anything (thankfully)? Because no matter how much we want to pretend that the athletes are not employees, they have the ability to strike...which is an "economical weapon" that only exists in labor.

Mizzou buckled the day before it would have had to pay BYU a $1M to cancel the game. And then when you think of the MILLIONS lost in tickets, promotions, and television that would follow...the school had little choice. Unlike the Yale situation, Mizzou can't easily replace football players.
