Message Replied To ========== In 42 years of life... I've never feared my government. Yet, I've feared for my life plenty. Any idea of "freedom" that values gun ownership for the mentally ill over public safety is a twisted and...evil...notion. And no, I don't believe for a second that our Founding Fathers would agree with you on this issue. Threads on this topic, in this forum demonstrate why the rest of the civilized world thinks we've lost our damn minds. Priorities. ============================== I fear this government more than any random act of violence I may encounter. Outside of military service, I have never been shot at nor even heard a gunshot in malice. As such, I do not own a gun nor do I have any intention of buying one because I have no need for one. But being harassed by government officials, having assets frozen without cause, having the FBI show up without a warrant or even an accusation of wrong doing. having my business audited by the freaking CENSUS? Patriotism is love of country, not love of government. My issue is not whether an armed citizenry would take action against the military. If this country ever came to that the military would be fractured and fight on all sides. The issue is granting the government powers to further curtail individual freedoms. Powers that seem to grow every year without being put in check. |
