...among those who are at all likely to vote for him, so it's counter-productive. In the general, for sure, attack away. Regardless, the attacks haven't been toward Trump so much anyhow, just a lot of "Republicans are stupid" and crowd-shaming certain positions, which is easy to tune out. Substance would work a lot better.

I would much rather the Republicans nominate someone fit for the office, even if I have wide disagreement with that nominee.

And frankly, I would think quite a bit less of anyone who wants otherwise.  

Not that I'm special.  So far, it appears that pretty much everyone posting here has the same kind of attitude.
