fly with a buddy who owns a 1981 Mooney. We flew out of PDK (a mile from my house) and had 30kt tail wind, so flying time was about 38 minutes, cruising at 195kts the whole way. This is the way to go if you can swing it - pretty fast little plane, and efficient, too, there and back gas was about $120 (would have been almost half of that for the car). Land at Daniel Field and take 10 minute cab ride to front gate, we were inside by 930 am, stayed until 500 pm, had a great day seeing the course, which I never get tired of. Met and talked to Brad Faxon's dad at the FBO, really nice guy. Really tough conditions on the course, I don't know how these guys can go out there on a course like that and shoot under par or even close to par. The winds were gusty and variable, so lots of players kind of hitting and hoping. The greens are brutal - should be even harder today on the greens. Anyway, drank 6 "import beers" and had one each of the sandwiches over the course of the day (egg salad, pimento cheese, chicken, bbq, ham and cheese), and oh yeah, smoked a few nice cigars. Back in the plane and watched last 45 minutes of coverage at a bar in my 'hood, we had headwind on way back so took about an hour. Pretty awesome day!
