Lynne Wright, Forward, Coahulla Creek: Only a

sophomore, Wright was by far the top goal scorer in the area with 22

goals, eight more than the next highest total. Her scoring often came in

bunches with four hat tricks, including scoring four goals in a game

twice and five in a game against Murray County. By the end of the

season, her and Larsen became a lethal combination for opposing teams to

deal with, and help lead the Lady Colts to a runner-up finish in Region

6-3A.

“She’s a very dynamic player,” Coley said. “She can move

the ball well. She’s got club soccer experience which is tremendously

helpful at the high school level. Her game helps elevates other players.

When teams would recognize she was such a dynamic force, that would

open up opportunities for other players.”

Her experience led to

her being one of the top facilitators for the team, taking the throw-ins

and corner kicks among other set pieces.

“She’s fast, she’s good

on the dribble and she’s got a really good shot. We relied on her for

throw-ins and to cross the ball in. She almost never came off the field.

“I’m really excited about her being there for two more years

at Coahulla. If she continues to improve, the sky’s the limit for her. I

could only see her getting better and better, hopefully."
