"It will be replaced with a two party system"

Message Replied To ==========

And what, exactly, will it be replaced with - if we do away with a two party system are we going to

be like England's or France's?

Trump says he doesn't believe in it, is American exceptionalism dead?==============================

Every time in US history one of the parties has died or a 3rd party has gained significant traction, the result was ultimately a new (or not) two party system. The two opposing parties may have changed, at least at first, but it never ever has resulted in anything but a two party system. Not once. And it won't this time.

Those rooting for a purge via Trump presidency because it would potentially end two-party rule are ignorant of history. Root for disaster if you wish, but it will be short-term pain limping into long-term negative consequences rather than short-term pain for long-term gain.

I hate these two parties as much as anyone out there. But I'm so, so sick of hearing about this Trump purge as if there's a significant chance that it will make things better in the long term. It's just foolish.

"I can live with doubt and uncertainty and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. I have approximate answers and possible beliefs and different degrees of certainty about different things but I'm not absolutely sure of anything and then many things I don't know anything about, such as whether it means anything to ask, "Why we are here?" and what that question might mean. I might think about it a bit and then if I can’t figure it out then I go on to something else.

But I don't have to know an answer, I don’t have to . . . I don't feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in the mysterious universe without having any purpose which is the way it really is as far as I can tell possibly. It doesn’t frighten me."
