baseball game a few years ago. I was able to introduce her to him and then he immediately asked how my dad was doing. That always stuck with me. I wouldn't think he would know us from Adam but I guess he got used to seeing us at all the games over the years.

The one that makes me laugh was seeing him at a Bennigans by the Orlando airport one night in 2000 or so... I was working the early evening shift at UPS at the time and we went there to blow off some steam after a crazy shift. He was there having a beer and was set to fly out in the morning for a convention. I went to say hello and my first question was "when are we going to get a scoreboard that we can see from the SEZ to match the one in the NEZ"... he said "I get that a lot" and laughed. Then he let me pick his brain about a career in sports. Sometimes I wish I had took his advice.

As an older Gator (class of '77) I am very proud of our across the board excellence in athletics.  As JF said yesterday, and it is due to his leadership, UF must always be in the conversation as one of the best, if not the best, athletic programs in the NCAA.  To have achieved 37 Natty C's in 25 years with high integrity as our foundation and virtually zero NCAA violations is simply astounding. 

And one thing that is not debatable, Florida is the gold standard for athletic programs in the SEC and actually no one else has been consistently close these past 25 years.  That is remarkable when one considers the academic standards at UF over the past 25 years. 

Jeremy set a high and distinguished bar at UF.  Very saddened to see his leadership come to an end.
