Norm Sloan. The story I am about to post I posted on FB this morning but did not include sloan's name. I have since been nudged by a board regular to share it. What is also not included was his calling me a "short ass blonde" and our coach "Micklet de mouse or whatever the #badword# her name is." May he RIP but well, he was a douche.

I want to share one Pat Summit story as a follow up to my last post. UT was ranked #1 and our unranked men's BB team had just lost on the road. They returned immediately and wanted an early morning practice that had not been scheduled. I lived close by, so I was asked to head to the O'Dome and let Pat and the Lady Vols in for a scheduled pre-game practice. I got there early and was asked to go to the men's coach's office. As I entered he started screaming that no women's team was going to take the court that he needed. Before leaving his office, I replied that with all due respect (cough), the Lady Vols have it reserved and will be taking the court (yes, I was nervous). I then greeted Pat at court side who stood there smiling in complete disbelief as he came out to let his anger be known. She was so very helpful, kind, and gracious in that moment. I was only 19 years old and standing between two giants of the sport. I knew at that moment that time would reveal the one of the two who would go on to become a legend.

Damn sad day :(
