Message Replied To ========== Just as the republican party assimilated the Tea Party, my guess is they will in time become the core of Libertarian Party. The candidates they are running are republicans - Johnson ran for Pres as an R in 2011 and Weld was an R governor of Mass. and ran as an R for governor of NY in 2006. To me it looks like they are anticipating a shift of moderate republicans away from the Trumpster fire of the GOP to the Libertarian party where their numbers and eventually their ideology will create a "new" republican party under the guise of being libertarian. Actual Libertarians are few, they will be overrun and undermined by republicans looking for cover from the fallout of the Trump campaign and be forced to start over as "True Libertarians" or something else. In my eyes, a vote for Johnson/Weld is actually a vote against libertarian principles. Or not. Time will tell. You know else used to be a Republican?
