Message Replied To ========== But it's hate speech if we say Police Lives Matter. The constant berating of cops in the media depicting them as racist monsters I am afraid will incite more and more of this stuff we've already seen cops assassinated while sitting in the patrol cars etc. and now this planned ambush. Yeah this country is headed in the right direction.============================== The distrust between law enforcement, the criminal justice system, and the communities they serve is very, very high right now. Some of that is the fault of a minority of LEOs who have clearly been in the wrong to a deadly degree. Some of that is the fault of the system that doesn't hold them accountable. And some of that is the fault of the reaction from the communities-- last night was awful and tragic and so very unhelpful to the situation. I don't think "Police Lives Matter" helps. I think it just reinforces the Blue Wall idea. It sounds like circling the wagons. Yes, BLM is a circling of wagons too but it absolutely doesn't help to insulate or take a side in response. |

-- Starred by: Flea Mudlizard Wayne Albert chigatorbri MIAUTIGER WAR DAMN EAGLE MichiGator -- "I can live with doubt and uncertainty and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. I have approximate answers and possible beliefs and different degrees of certainty about different things but I'm not absolutely sure of anything and then many things I don't know anything about, such as whether it means anything to ask, "Why we are here?" and what that question might mean. I might think about it a bit and then if I can’t figure it out then I go on to something else. But I don't have to know an answer, I don’t have to . . . I don't feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in the mysterious universe without having any purpose which is the way it really is as far as I can tell possibly. It doesn’t frighten me." -- Richard Feynman, "The Pleasure of Finding Things Out" (1981) |
