Message Replied To ========== Good for him. White privilege is a real thing. Black parents shouldn't have to teach their young boys they just can't do certain things their white counterparts can.============================== it suggest we white people are getting something above what should be expected . . . that we have to be pulled back down by the state to a level acceptable to all people. The issue is not "white privilege". The issue is state sponsored inequality as over reactions to societies ills (the drug war, the war on terror, etc. etc.) The "war" on these things have consequences and those most able to defend themselves from such consequences are deemed "privileged". The other aspect of this is that the state has dropped the ball on doing the things it is constitutionally required to do (not the fluff like SS, welfare, etc.) . . . private prison are BS. Alabama is funding its whole criminal justice system on fees. Who is hit most by that?
This is systemic and political. The answer is not demonizing white people as "privileged" but for the state to start behaving within its powers equally, lifting others up . .. not bringing us down. |
