"Hung's listing of the Gators' top targets at DB and WR" |
|
This is my interpretation from the stuff I gather only, so I reserve the right to be embarrassingly wrong. As a brief summary, I think we are going to do very well at these positions. I wish I were as optimistic about how we are going to do at OL and DT but...... Anyhoo: PS these are all Rivals rankings CB AJ Terrell 5 star Atlanta Westlake 6’2” 170 the #1 rated cornerback and the #8 rated overall prospect. His offer sheet is ridiculous so just assume everybody is recruiting him. He was going to commit in September but has pushed the date back….some of the scuttlebutt was that he was going to commit to us so its not good that he has pushed the date back but we are obviously still very attractive to him given the likelihood of 2 starting jobs opening up after this season. The main contenders for him are us, Bama and Clemson with Auburn and UGA and the Cocks in a 3 way tie behind the three leaders. We held a satellite camp in Atlanta in order to be close to him if that tells you anything about how much we want him. Torrian Gray is recruiting him. CB Marco Wilson 4 star American Heritage Ft Lauderdale #14 rated Cornerback and #129 player overall. He’s 5’11” and 163 so a little bit small but certainly big enough and runs a digitally timed 4.42 which is blazing…..Quincey’s brother will decide soon…All the usual big boys are after him (UF, scUM, Bama, Auburn, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State etc) I think it will be between UF or scUM and I think we get him. Coach Mac is recruiting him personally. CB Shaun Wade 5 star Jax Trinity Christian #4 rated Cornerback and #14 player overall… 6’2” 173….currently committed to Ohio State but is still being heavily recruited by us and Bama. Will visit UF soon. He says he is comfortable with UF but its very important to convince his parents who have never seen UF and both care a lot about academics…which IMO is helpful to us along with the obvious early PT we have to sell. If we can sell his parents on UF then I think we’ve got a reasonable shot to flip him. S Devon Hunter 4 star Chesapeake, Virginia the #4 Safety and #48 overall prospect His top choices are Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, UF and Va Tech. He is being recruited by Torrian Gray and has known him since Gray’s time at Va Tech. Hunter has already visited and may take an official visit but says its not necessary and that he already knows UF. CB Chris Henderson 4 stars Miami Columbus the #19 Cornerback and #207 overall prospect Is 6’0” and 174. He committed to scUM but is being recruited by us, Bama, Southern Cal and Auburn. He says we are #2 with him right now only because he has verballed to scUM. I think there is a decent chance he flips. Obviously his verbal doesn’t mean much considering he is still taking trips. Randy Shannon is recruiting him. S DeAngelo Gibbs 4 stars Loganville, Ga Grayson. As an “Athlete” (he plays CB also) he is listed as #10 at his position and is ranked as the #144 player in America. He is 6’2” 207 and I think his future is at Safety. He will be at Friday Night Lights on the 22nd of this month. I haven’t seen anything on where he is leaning but all the usual big boy programs in the region are recruiting him. He says he is attracted by the early PT UF will have to offer. S Brian Edwards 4 star 6’2” 188 Miramar, Miramar FL rated as the #17 safety prospect and the #220 prospect in the country. He is being recruited by Randy Shannon. Is being recruited by UF, fsu, scUM, LSU, Nebraska and a few others. Wide Receiver We currently have 4 star Daquon Green from Tampa the #30 rated WR and #193 rated overall prospect committed. We are still pursuing: WR Jerry Jeudy 4 stars 6’2” 175 Deerfield Beach The #9 rated WR and #44 rated overall prospect in the country. He is being heavily recruited by lots of big boy programs in the region including UF. I “think” we lead and will probably get him or at least have a very good chance. He has been to UF recently and plans to take an official visit later. WR James Robinson 5 star 6’3” 198 The #5 rated WR and #22 rated overall prospect from Lakeland. He is being recruited by Torrian Gray though I know Coach Mac talks to him almost daily. He is being recruited by everybody and I believe UF is far ahead of everyone else. He hasn’t given a timetable but plans to commit soon. Just my hunch but I think the Gator coaches prefer him over any other WR in the country with the lone possible exception of Donovan Peoples-Jones……yes including guys rated above him. They have pulled out all the stops to get him. …..speaking of WR Donovan Peoples-Jones 5 star Detroit Cass-Tech 6’1” 188 the #2 rated WR and #11 rated overall prospect is being recruited by everybody. EVERYBODY. He will come out with a list of 10 schools shortly that make the cut. Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State and we are thought by everybody to be the top contenders….believe it or not if I had to guess I would say we lead. He grew up a big fan of Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin and has already visited UF 3 times and says distance won’t be a factor in his decision. The coaches have been after him very very hard including holding a Satellite camp up in Detroit just to be near him and of course tipping off Jake Allen to work on him. I think we have an excellent shot here. WR Trevon Grimes St Thomas Aquinas, Ft Lauderdale 5 star, the #1 rated WR and #3 rated overall prospect. Jake Allen’s teammate is an Ohio State – UF battle and he says he is “70% committed” to Ohio State. We are trying to get him and would take him no matter who else we get so please do not misinterpret what I’m about to say but…..from everything I gather the coaches like Donovan Peoples-Jones and James Robinson better. Obviously we would LOVE to have Grimes and will continue trying for him….though I think he goes to Ohio State. |

-- Starred by: gatorvette1012 Narcoossee Gator 3rdWardGator Beachmaster Lava Lizard Swamp Lizard -- “Every man should endeavor to understand the meaning of subjugation before it is too late… It means the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern schoolteachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the war; will be impressed by the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit objects for derision… It is said slavery is all we are fighting for, and if we give it up we give up all. Even if this were true, which we deny, slavery is not all our enemies are fighting for. It is merely the pretense to establish sectional superiority and a more centralized form of government, and to deprive us of our rights and liberties.” Maj. General Patrick R. Cleburne, CSA, January 1864 "I yet believe that the maintenance of the rights and authority reserved to the states and to the people, not only essential to the adjustment and balance of the general system, but the safeguard to the continuance of a free government. I consider it as the chief source of stability to our political system, whereas the consolidation of the states into one vast republic, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of that ruin which has overwhelmed all those that have preceded it."
