...shouldn't kid themselves that more restrictions will have any significant impact on gun crime. That ship sailed long ago with the sheer volume of guns in the system. If it really is "easier to get a gun than a book", more ownership laws won't do a thing. Harsh mandatory sentences for using guns in crimes might, but that would disproportionally affect brown people, so that won't fly.

I've yet to see a coherent, actionable plan for reducing gun crime from either side.
