The ACA has fixed some things that needed fixing too.

But I understand volveeta's point as well. We need to find the right balance, and what we have right now isn't it.

On a side note, anybody campaigning on "I WILL REPEAL OBAMACARE!" automatically loses my vote. As chemo has said many times, too much of what has been done can't be undone at this point. I won't vote for anyone who says they're going to repeal it because it means either A) they really think it CAN be repealed which means they're wilfully ignorant when it comes to what the ACA has already done, or B) they're cynically panning for votes by making a promise they already know they can't keep.

I realize this kind of nonsense happens on other issues as well (and from both sides of the aisle), but the ACA is a rather glaring example.

The operative word to campaign on should be "REFORM". Because that's realistic and it's going to have to happen.

Much of the damage the ACA has done to healthcare can not be undone BUT:

I am 110% in favor of completely repealing it even if there is nothing to replace it with.

Why? Because the next phase of Obamacare is WORSE. Remember, it was designed such that the pain of it would not be realized until after Obama and that despicable Democratic Congress was out of office. Which means the true pain of it has not even started.

The next phase is the transition away from fee for service healthcare to capitated payments. This is scheduled to start Jan 2019. The transition is now as the feds collect data to convert to this system. They have already published fees for episodes of care in the federal register...for example, $26,900 every six months for the acute care of breast cancer. That is a huge limit on new technologies and drugs if you are a young woman with breast cancer.

My prediction: the consolidation of healthcare into monopolies will accelerate. We have already seen the majority of doctors become salaried employees of hospitals...and we are seeing hospitals merge and insurance companies merge. The next step will be hospitals and insurance companies merge into vertical and horizontal monopolies of healthcare. That is the ONLY way to survive the capitation limits the feds are placing on healthcare. Patient choice is history. Want a second opinion? That would come out of the capitated payment of your local hospital trust. Sorry, request denied.

The ACA is the British NHS. The end game is bad....kill it as soon as possible.
