We had Boots for nearly 10 years. He'd been sick for a while and the vet couldn't figure out with what, other than maybe old age. It is an awful thing for me to have to make a decision to end the life of a simple house cat, albeit a beloved one. I can't conceive of how human beings take each other's lives, whether in the womb, in the throes of terminal disease, or violently.
There is no doubt he was dying and would've been gone any time, had I not brought him in. And yet, he was lucid. Old, dying cat-lucid. Still bothers me. I stayed with him. That was hard.
That's all. Just feeling awfully low.
