Message Replied To ========== Some of us have been attacked for saying this, but now others are starting to go there. It's time for Mac to get his act together as a recruiter and a coach, cut the snarky wise cracks to the press, and start making decisions. ============================== I am not in the room with them not have I seen them coach the players. We may have bad players, I don't know I am not out there on the field coaching them. What I do know having been a coach on the offensive line (high school level) was this team would most likely struggle offensively even if they had Tom Brady at QB. Muschamp left this team decimated at the offensive line. Muschamp did not recruit worth a damn on the offensive line. You can not be effective at any level of football with an inexperienced line with little numbers. Out of the 2 deep that I just looked at here, from tackle to tackle, we have 9 players for those 10 positions. 7 are frshmen or sophomores. There is a 3rd string left guard listed. That is ridiculously young and ridiculously low numbers. Neither of which are McElwain's doing. He actually increased the numbers. Idealy you would have 15 offensive linemen. The numbers are an issue that really won't be close to being solved until after his 3rd full recruiting class. I expect this team will continue to struggle offensively this year because it takes time to mold an offensive line. In the ultimate team game the offensive line is the ultimate team unit. You have to get 5 guys acting as one. I also know that you can have the best coaches teaching them and it might not click for the player for some time. Not to mention the strength difference between a freshman and a senior. LSU SHOULD have a field day with this line next week. These coaches have been successful in the past. I don't believe anybody gets stupid or incompetant overnight. I expect and demand improvement with the team. I am also realistic with those expectations. It usually does not happen overnight. |
