There are conservative alternatives like MacMullin (although he's not on the Florida ballot). There are other alternatives like Gary Johnson. The "R" after his name has become more important than all other considerations. I realize you're looking at this like a football game, but there are broader considerations here. Too many in the so-called "leadership" of the Republican Party have essentially sold their souls for a con man, and that's not good for the country as a whole. There are very few political "Profiles In Courage" in the Republican Party right now, but at least there are some, and from that maybe the party can rebuild. |
