"All true, but if either UF or LSU cannot play 8 SEC games, they get booted from the conference..."in response to Next big time college football game you go to - count everyone you see working the game, posted by CoachTony |

Message Replied To ========== Next big time college football game you go to - count everyone you see working the game in any capacity and multiply that number by 5 and you might come close to the number of people needed to put on a major college football game. I think part of the issue is that most of the media guys that have hot takes on UF-LSU show up and take the elevator to their spot on media row, watch the game, write their story and then head home... they don't see/know everything that is involved in putting on the event. ==============================...and a whole lot of other made-up consequences Tennessee fans actually believe. Why, it's right there in the scheduling section of the SEC rulebook. They "shall" play 8 games. If they cannot, they forfeit ALL their SEC contractual tie-ins. Every god damn one. That means $0.00 in ad revenue. That means they scrub us from the commercials. You want a bowl game? No more bowl games. We'd get our stats pulled from the NCAA. Kentucky and Vanderbilt wins? More like, Kentucky and Vanderbilt forfeitures!! They can only lose against certified fellow SEC teams, which we are not. We do not play those 8 games, the SEC owes us nothing. Losing out on the championship was the tip of the slippery slope. It's all spelled out in a literal understanding of the scheduling section. Let's all hope our new conference next year will be a bit more forgiving. |
