Personally, I'll take an ahole that accomplishes stuff over a classy bureaucrat any day.

The role of the POTUS is multi-faceted.  In addition to "getting things done", they are the face of the nation, and the face of what is supposed to be the greatest nation on the planet.  They are the steadying voice we all look to at times of crisis.  They are the ones who show the world this country is a strong and steady voice.  They should reflect dignity, poise, thoughtfulness, class, compassion, concern, resolve, respect, insert your own adjectives here.

If we wanted a pure policy guy as president, we could all vote based on written resumes.  If only that was the only role of the POTUS.
