Most people here on the Mudduck regardless of our many differences seem to get the following. 

• The genius of the system is that major change is really hard. It takes time and broad consensus. Trump seems like the last guy capable of building any consensus on anything.  

• Major changes take time. Take Obamacare for example. It was passed in 2010. It took 2-3 years just to get started on implementation and some parts are just now being implemented today. 

• The political pendulum is always swinging. It was just 8 years ago liberals were sky high and conservatives were throwing tea party rallies. Our lives have moved on and what matters most to us then is likely still what matter most to us now. Politics hasn't changed life all that much.
