of the current coaching staff and how would you rate them after year 2.....and yes I'm aware the day after losing to half assed U badly is probably going to skew results with many.

Successes:

- we have signed/found a couple of good backs.  I think Scarlett and Perine would be taken by any other program in America now.  These guys are good and its obvious.

- We have found a bunch of promising WRs.  Callaway is a good one and Cleveland, Swain and Hammond look promising from what we've seen.  They were too young as true freshmen to execute at a high level but I expect them to take a big step forward next year.  Massey looked really good before getting injured.  Hopefully he can come back 100% next year.  Add in Powell who is OK and we actually have a legit WR Corps for the first time ince literally 2008.

- OL  We started off as the worst OL I have personally seen in 35+ years of closely following the Gators last season (thanks again Chump).  We were a planet swallowing vortex of suck at this position last year.  We improved to merely bad in the early part of this year.  By the end of the season, I think we have improved all the way up to average.  This is TREMENDOUS PROGRESS!  Its hardly a strength but this unit is not actively harming the team anymore.

Taylor is one of the top freshmen in America regardless of position.  Fred Johnson appears to be coming around.  We have found our Center in TJ McCoy.  Ivey came on in the latter half of hte season twice being named SEC lineman of the week.  Even Harkless demonstrated he might actually become a contributor and Jordan is at least decent.  Those are all first and second year players. I am optimistic we can go from average to above average and if we're really lucky, maybe even good by the end of next season.  We could think about Great in 2018 when almost all of these guys will be back since we have almost no upperclassmen.

- K Eddie Piniero was a HUGE recruiting win.  This went from THE worst kicker in America to one of the best overnight.

- Defense....we have several good young players on D such as Kylan Johnson, David Reese, Chauncey Gardner, Jabari Zuniga, CeCe Jefferson and a few more first and second year guys who have looked OK like Keivonnus Davis, Antonneus Clayton, Jachai Polite, Jeremiah Moon, Vosean Joseph.  A few more who h ave been redshirted will probably step up next season.  We are notably thin on DBs and DTs here but otherwise this is a good looking group.  

- performance....we did win the SEC East twice in two years.  We got to 10 wins last season.  That is clearly better than twe were under Chump and though I have disagreed with some tactical coaching decisions (ie continuing to blitz and play man coverage against Tennessee even though they were eating that up, not pulling Del Rio much sooner, not giving hte bulk of the carries to Scarlett and Perine even though everybody on this board identified them as the two best backs within 2-3 weeks), all in all I'm having a hard time thinking of another coaching staff that would have gotten more out of what we had than Coach Mac and the staff have done.  We only lost one game we "should" have won (at Arky) and we made up for it by winning one each season we "should" have lost (Ole Miss last year, LSU this year).  Just ask Kirby or Butch Davis or Kevin Sumlin or Ogre...or even Bielema or Jimbo about not losing games you are supposed to win....even Urban and Harbaugh both did that once this year.

Failures:

- QB.  It starts here and this is 90% of what's wrong with the team right now.  Grier's suspension was of his own making but not making an all out effort to keep him in the fold was a HUGE mistake.  Obviously the coaching staff thought Luke Del Rio was going to be able to take over the reins and he can't.  He's just not capable.  Sorry.  This lone failure threw us back 2 years at this position.  Now next season we have two redshirt freshmen like Grier was last season and one of them needs to ba a player.  This position was left in very very bad shape by Chump such that if Grier was anything but a good one we were going to be in trouble.  I would have really liked to have seen us get a hotshot transfer or Juco who could also compete for the job next season.  To get everybody feeling good and united behind them, this position MUST show progress next season.  MUST.  No patience, tolerance or understanding.  MUST.  End of discussion.

- Recruiting....I don't feel it has been as bad as a large chunk of our fanbase thinks.  Its true we did miss out on 3-5 top rated recruits last January that had we gotten instead of finishing 2nd and 3rd for, would have had our class well within the top 10.  That said, I'm not entirely given to just looking at the star ratings of the recruiting services. 

- TE.....for a coach and an Offense that likes to make use of the TE position we sure haven't gotten much from that position this season.  C'Yontai Lewis has had a couple of good games but he usually follows one of those up with a complete disappearing act the next week.  Goolsby is a master of the "catch the 3 yard pass and fall down within a step" routine.  Seriously, the guy always seems to fall down within a step or two of catching the ball even if he's not hit hard.  Neither of these two is a particularly good blocker.  Neither of the two guys behind them contribute anything al all.  If Gamble and Byrd can play they will get in right away for us next season.

In sum, we have gotten good though not great results so far.  Great results would have required much better QB play than we’ve gotten.  Given Coach Mac’s history for finding and developing QB’s I’m optimistic we will get much better QB play next season.  That just leaves finding some Cornerbacks as the one big hole to fill and we’re off to a good start in recruiting so far.  We will lose to Bama next week.  After that we will have a shot to win a nice though not great bowl game. 

We need to pick up 2-4 more good cornerback and safety prospects, at least one more good DT and we very much need a couple more good OL prospects.  Some other pieces like another LB, another top shelf WR and another DE.  I am concerned about getting the OL we need.  I’m a bit nervous about whether we’ll get another good WR.  All the other needs I feel at least OK about our chances of meeting.
