"everything sucks. We're doomed. Let's just burn the school to the ground and start over."

A Different Perspective...

Second year in a row the offense has regressed instead of improved. We go to Atlanta a 22 point dog. We have no qb for next season, starting from scratch there, which the faithful on this board will surely use as a rationale for poor offense next season, saying wait until the following season. The D loses major talent that held this team together despite the poor offense. Our head coach and staff are showing to be underwhelming in the recruiting game. With a depleted D, needing an O to produce more points, combined with a pretty tough schedule, it is hard to see improvement. What I see is McElwain just about ready to drive us off the cliff, into the great abyss of total irrelevance, where the media won't even waste their time chiding our offense. Didn't many Gator fans think Muschamp was on his way up when we won 11 games? What came next? I see many similarities.

This is only my opinion and does not speak for the otherwise unbridled enthusiasm of much of this message board. That said, I contend it is the more likely scenario.

sheesh.  Give it a rest.

Plainly we need a QB.  We can all see it.  That said, we did win our division two years in a row despite the huge mess Chump left - the first time a coach has ever won his division the first two years in SEC history so obviously we're doing something right despite our obvious limitations.  After Grier's eff up, the writing was on the wall for this season in terms of us having a good Offense.  We do have a bunch of good looking young players and that bodes well.  You want to be upset with somebody?  Be upset with Chump.  He left a situation so awful that:

4 of our 5 starters on the OL were first and second year guys and the top two backups were Sophomores.

4 of our 5 top receivers are first and second year guys

All of our Tailbacks are first or second year guys

Our Kicker is a first year guy

All 4 of the QBs we had on the roster - including the two we redshirted were first or second year guys.

Given that we had to start almost completely from scratch on Offense, it was never realistic to think we weren't going to struggle mightily this season on that side of the ball.

“Every man should endeavor to understand the meaning of subjugation before it is too late… It means the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern schoolteachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the war; will be impressed by the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit objects for derision… It is said slavery is all we are fighting for, and if we give it up we give up all. Even if this were true, which we deny, slavery is not all our enemies are fighting for. It is merely the pretense to establish sectional superiority and a more centralized form of government, and to deprive us of our rights and liberties.”  Maj. General Patrick R. Cleburne, CSA, January 1864

"I yet believe that the maintenance of the rights and authority reserved to the states and to the people, not only essential to the adjustment and balance of the general system, but the safeguard to the continuance of a free government. I consider it as the chief source of stability to our political system, whereas the consolidation of the states into one vast republic, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of that ruin which has overwhelmed all those that have preceded it." Robert E. Lee
