"I hate losing, and my only solace is to try to stay patient. The offense has sucked"

My biggest concern with Mac and our team...

is when we lose we really seem to lose. Yes, I know a loss is a loss but in 7 of Mac's 8 losses we have lost by double digits. Not even really competitive in 6 of those 8 losses either. I'm not advocating a change, so don't take this post the wrong way. But it is concerning when you know early in the 3rd qtr that your chances of winning are pretty slim.

We could really use a nice bowl win to salvage this season and hopefully provide some positive momentum going into the off-season. Go Gators.

donkey ballz for seven long years. Once we start falling behind, it's either keep running and lose by a little or try to win by throwing and lose by a lot.

Last year was the bottom as far as the offense goes, given our duct taped offensive line. This year it was bunch of freshmen and sophomores, so it about the same in terms of production. The upside is that there are quite a group of studs on the offensive side of the ball. With a decent QB, we'll look like a different team. We'll be able to establish leads that will force other teams off their gameplans (Spurrier was the master at this). I'm not saying it'll happen all the time or against great teams, but right now it's barely happening against bad teams.

Pass blocking got considerably better this year. Run blocking was decent but of course struggled against our better opponents (though we were knocking LSU's defensive line around). Scarlett can get yards even with a minimal hole. The thing that really stands out that we saw NONE of with Chump was the number of receivers running free, as in wide open. Granted, the QB almost never spotted him, but guys have been getting wide open all year against every team, even Bama. If and when we get someone who can see them and hit them, we'll look like a completely different offense. I continue to hold out hope that we will.

Also, star rankings aside, I think the current coaching group is picking recruits that we're getting solid production from, and having a good percentage of them contribute (as opposed to a lot of busts). I see that on offense and defense. UF has been in a major rut with respect to its image. We've been a tremendously boring team to watch on offense. Inept even. Four consecutive years out of the top 100 in total offense. So we've sucked on offense since current recruits were in middle school. In other words, they have virtually no memory of our ever being good on offense. We're not suddenly going to recruit a bunch of 5-stars to come in and change things around. Those kids want to go somewhere where they can play on tv and get noticed. They want excitement. We need to bring that back with whatever we can get. Guys like Callaway, Cleveland, Massey, Scarlett, and Perine are changing and will change that image. I think we're at the point where a really good QB prospect, if he truly looks at what we have at WR, RB, and OL, will see a place where he can thrive. That did NOT exist two years ago. (We looked like a dumpster fire.) We absolutely look better than that now. We have tons of potential. Just need a QB to bring it all together. We may already have "that" guy in Trask or Franks.

Mac has brought us to the SECCG his first two years. He's recruited a good number of solid players for us. The Grier debacle really set us back, unfortunately. It's a shame, but it is what it is. And we have the makings of a very good offense over the next two years. At this point, I believe that Mac deserves at least another two years. His teams have earned that on the field. Even were he to leave in two years, he'll leave the team in better shape than he found it. Imo, neither Spurrier nor Urban nor Mushchump did so. Only Zook did.
