The team is being very well coached. The players some people thought had no chance of being good because of star ratings are solid or better SEC players. As a unit, they play exceptional football at times. Our recent success isn't a fluke.
Our QB options this year were a Purdue transfer (Go Boilers!) and a guy with a weak arm on his 3rd school. While it's possible to make lemonade out of lemons, that doesn't work against the entire SEC (only the East, obviously). We will get the QB situation settled, and the team will be that much better in the years ahead.
How many people thought Franklin had blown it at Penn State? C'mon, people -- perspective -- we're supposed to be the adults here!!! ==============================players DO matter. You can't expect a coach to be able to walk into a complete dumpster fire and sprinkle some pixie dust and have everything magically fixed right away. To those who want to cite Spurrier, Urban, Saban etc...they walked into situations that were not total dumpster fires. The situation Coach Mac walked into on Offense was abominable. The OL was in worse shape than I had ever seen it and it takes 2-3 years to get most linemen ready. If you don't have them then....sorry. You're just gonna suck for however long it takes to get your guys some experience after you bring them in. You can get as PO'd about it as you want. That's not going to change the timeline. Wanna know who to get PO'd at? How about the guy who CREATED that mess rather than the one who has to come along afterward and clean it up? Once Will Grier took PEDs and then left, the QB situation was a total bust and we had to start from scratch there too. Whose fault is it that we had no option other than a freshman who had never taken a snap in a college game? Hint: it wasn't Coach Mac. No, Steve Spurrier wouldn't have been able to make Treon or Appleby a good QB either. It takes a few years when you have to start from scratch - which we did after Chump was given 4 years to really run the program into the ground. |
