"Oh, and for making that choice - for having the audacity to vote for someone" |
|
Message Replied To ========== Those things were among the reasons I didn't vote for Trump. But I know lots of Trump voters who hated all those things and still voted for him, simply because they saw him as the least worst option. ============================== that many consider offensive, these good, decent people have been attacked and insulted, called racists, homophobes and sexists. My wife's best friend from high school, who happens to be gay, went off on her and accused her of stabbing him in the back for voting for Trump. She has always supported her friend and respected his life choice. She's pro gay marriage. They have been close friends for years. She simply had other reasons to vote the way she did than gay rights issues. But he was so offended he lit into her via social media, saying horrible things about what he felt her vote "did" to him. He ended their friendship of 30 years or so within a few days of the election, and they have not communicated since.
This reaction -- to be so offended when someone has reasons to vote a certain way that don't align with your reasons -- is what bothers me. We don't all weigh these things equally. What you consider a deal-breaker, I may not. People weighed the options and chose based on the factors most important to them. The lash-back from the left against those who didnt see things their way has been over the top and unfair, in my opinion.
