"The ACA was one of the worst pieces of legislation passed in the last 100 years" |
|
Message Replied To ========== Repeal should be the logical move, as anti ACAers (such as myself) will hold Rs accountable otherwise and ACA apologists will blame them regardless. We'll see. My initial goals have been met and my new goals are minimal. ============================== The Republicans will be held accountable if they do not get rid of it. But they need to get rid of it piece by piece in order to minimize the disruption in healthcare brought about by the transition. Instead of one big single piece of legislation to "repeal" it they just need to go after the most egregious parts of it. 1) A bill to end the individual mandate needs to pass THIS session 2) Trump needs to use his executive authority to eliminate all the HHS mandates Obama passed using his executive authority..no more nuns buying contraception, forcing people to purchase coverage for IVF and the myriad of elective things they will never use 3) Congress needs to pass the site neutrality bill to end the preferential reimbursements given to corporate healthcare providers (ie "facility fees") 4) Congress needs to make sure Individuals get the same tax benefits as businesses when purchasing insurance 5) Congress needs to eliminate the risk corridors 6) Congress needs to eliminate MACRA MIPPS and ACOs as national programs until they are PROVEN to save money or improve quality through Medicare demonstration projects. 7) Congress needs to eliminate the risk corridor bailouts for insurance companies that sell on the exchanges. In return Congress needs to eliminate the limits on administrative costs Go after the individual aspects of the ACA which have made it so unpopular and unteneable. Go after them one by one forcing the Democrats to have to defend these things instead of hide behind the few small benefits of the bill. |
