I remember in a speech class for a talk on terrorism I thought it would be clever to make a realistic simulated bomb as an attention getter. It wasn't nearly as smart a move then as my self enrapt mind thought, but dismissed as a childish prank. Had I done that stunt now I would probably have been expelled or landed in jail. Yes, maybe the guy who left the noose (99% chance it was a male) may have intended it as racist terrorism. And that would be very bad. But the possibility or even probability that it is simply a young person being thoughtless - as young people do - is no longer an acceptable explanation.
