One of the very fortunate things I get to do with my job is watch all of the post-game interviews with the Gator players. You may have missed it as the Gator Post Game was preempted (sorry, the game ran long and we had contractional obligation to go to the TB Lightning game @ 7:30), but something Keiwan Ratliff said in his interview is very comforting.
James Bates was interviewing him and pumping up Keiwan for the 1st question by mentioning his 3 INT and TD runback, however Ratliff took the opportunity to say this in response:
"First of all, I would like to apologize to my teammates, the fans, and the coaches for going out and making a selfish play like I did. It almost backfired and cost us the game."
Folks, that's pretty stand-up! Keiwan plays the game of his life, 3 picks, running one back for the game clinching TD, and tied a Gator record that had stood since Will White vs. Alabama. The lights and a live camera were on him, yet he first chose to make amends to all of us. I can assure you this from watching Keiwan's comments from week to week. Keiwan is a tremendous kid, is quite articulate and well-spoken, and absolutely bleeds Orange and Blue. We've been lucky to have him.
That being said, from a pure fan stand-point, Keiwan throwing that ball in the stands was REALLY COOL!! I know, I know... "Bad Keiwan, now don't do it again."
