The crowd was okay... 100 or so people... probably would have had more if they advertised that Coach Spurrier was going to be there but I get that they wanted the evening to be more of a "meet and greet" with the new AD.

Spurrier spoke for a few minutes and told a few UGA stories that we have all heard and also some stories about beating Alabama. He introduced Stricklin. Stricklin gave a quick version of his bio and background and then stumped for a little while about increasing donations and what it will take to build what everyone wants.

He praised the new Academic Center and also Exactech Arena - mentioned that the items on the master plan will need to be great because the Academic Center and Exactech Arena have set the bar very high. He went over the basic plans for the new stand alone football facility - I think what has been revealed is the minimum of what it will actually include. I think it is going to be incredible when finished.

I asked a question regarding baseball and he did mention that the master plan revealed last year could certainly be revised down the road with additional adjustments. I made sure to mention that the baseball field points the wrong way, etc and that the schools in the SEC West have better stadiums than the Baseball Grounds here in Jacksonville.

I did get to speak with him after the event, mostly because I wanted let him know that I thought the specs for the baseballs stadium looked like a band aid on a park that has been passed by almost every school in the SEC and I didn't want to tell him in front of the audience. He does have a baseball background so I'm confident that he can overhaul the fan experience at The Mac (or hopefully at the next baseball park).

He is a very personable guy and if you see him around at a game, etc... do not hesitate to say hello.
