"I don't think we're screwed in any event"

Message Replied To ==========

I will say this....

coach Mac is putting all his eggs on NSD it seems. I hope he knows something we all don't.

we need 10 more players and I would think he basically knows what 10-15 he is getting at this point.

if not, we're screwed

==============================

we are going to pick up several more good players.  If we end up at 21-22...which would be less than ideal, that would hardly be a disaster.  We'd still have a scholly to pick up both Fruhmorgen and Zaire even if both wanted to commit and since we are going to have to cull ruthlessly next year and have a small senior class, having an extra couple schollies to add to it so that we can sign a full class a year after several of our worst recruiters have been replaced by much better ones....that would hardly be a disaster though you would never know that from reading any of our recruiting boards which have been absolutely overrun by Eeyores.

“Every man should endeavor to understand the meaning of subjugation before it is too late… It means the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern schoolteachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the war; will be impressed by the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit objects for derision… It is said slavery is all we are fighting for, and if we give it up we give up all. Even if this were true, which we deny, slavery is not all our enemies are fighting for. It is merely the pretense to establish sectional superiority and a more centralized form of government, and to deprive us of our rights and liberties.”  Maj. General Patrick R. Cleburne, CSA, January 1864

"I yet believe that the maintenance of the rights and authority reserved to the states and to the people, not only essential to the adjustment and balance of the general system, but the safeguard to the continuance of a free government. I consider it as the chief source of stability to our political system, whereas the consolidation of the states into one vast republic, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of that ruin which has overwhelmed all those that have preceded it." Robert E. Lee
