regarding recruiting.  When looking at the recruiting services only, their player rankings and their team rankings UF has had under Mac two historically lower classes than UF usually gets on NSD.  This year will be the third year in a row, no matter how they close. This is not all on Mac but we have to be at the point where some of it falls on him and his staff.

We can argue about the reasons and there are many; the malaise at the end of the Champ years, falling behind in facilities and football support/ operations staff, not investing in football, poor product on the field, poor recruiting and so on...

Yes, UF has won games- games they should win but against other elite teams they have not done as well. Yes some of the players Mac has brought in have exceeded their recruiting rankings. The sky is not entirely falling.

At the same time UF is not going to get better, is not going to get into the national conversation unless they recruit better.  They need to start with in-state recruits.  They need to have a staff that emphasizes recruiting- year round.  There really needs to be a complete re-evaluation of what they are doing- starting with filling the vacancies on the current staff.

Recruiting is at least one-third of the total responsibilities of a college football coach.  You can not be successful at the expected UF level with classes outside the top 10- not given the teams the Gators compete against. I think Mac has shown himself to be very good at building a team and getting them ready to play a season (development). He needs to address recruiting or get coaches that can help him- if this is a weak area for him.
