Isn't it misleading to post the photo with a label describing it as "the disgrace of trump and his supporters," and to characterize it as a reflection  of "Trump's America"?  

As one who no longer aligns himself with any political party, I fully comprehend the concerns about this new administration.  As one who believes that we should all identify as Americans first and foremost, with our highest commitment to supporting policies that are responsive to the views of all citizens and that promote the legitimate interests of our people as the primary objective, I understand that it is wise -- for both sides -- to be wary of one who acts (and reacts) so swiftly.  Finally, as one who has seen ten U.S. Presidents come and go during my lifetime, I find that it's most important to pay attention to what an administration actually does, and avoid letting oneself become dazzled (or duped) by lofty oratory at one extreme or casual offhand comments at the other.  

I believe that we have a duty as citizens of a democracy to monitor what our government does, not only to guarantee that we are aware of actions that may constitute a misuse of power, but to ensure that we can make informed judgments going forward in electing officials who will be faithful and accountable in discharging their obligations.  But that duty of each citizen also carries with it a corresponding responsibility:  To be correctly informed about what the government is doing.  If we fail to distill from the morass of information being disseminated the truth about what the government is doing, and allow ourselves to be misled (or worse yet, become a party to the spread of misleading information), then we're not fulfilling our duty to protect our democracy, but are contributing to the conditions that make it difficult to advance the common interests of the people -- confusion, false information, and frustration with the inability to recognize who is right from who is wrong. 

All of that is a long-winded way of saying, more simply, that credibility counts.
