there's a reason for the lack of buzz around UF's football program, why the media gives us so little attention and respect. We just don't have the talent that generates interest. 

We also lack the talent needed to beat programs like FSU and Bama. Our coaches can think whatever they want...but our fans need to keep what they say here in mind when they complain about lack of national attention and media respect. And we definitely need to keep this stuff in mind the next time we get our teeth kicked in by a more talented program. 

to shine, though. With poor QB as a given, teams double team Callaway and crowd the line of scrimmage, both to stop the run and to pressure the QB. Many, many times this past season it resulted in a WR streaking free--unseen by the QB. One or two burns would force them to back off. Alas, it very rarely happened, certainly not with any regularity to be feared. And the entire offense suffered for it. Callaway was fighting off double teams, and Scarlett was trying to run through a wall--with a very young O-line blocking. That's why there's been little dynamism on offense; it just isn't lack of players.

On defense, we had lots of dynamic players last year, and we'll still have a good amount this year. Enough to beat Bama? Highly doubtful. They have a stocked team and are returning plenty this year. They're at the top. But FSU at home? With decent QB play, yes. They aren't that far ahead of us, and face puncher is gone. (Have to admit, the guy was a beast.)

I realize you're disappointed that we didn't land classes on par with Bama and Ohio State the past three years. Where I think you differ from others is that you lay the great chunk of that blame on Mac, as if just working harder were somehow the answer, when it's simply fact that other programs are miles ahead of us in terms of facilities, recruiting staff, and momentum. Thanks to Chump, we had jack on offense the past three years, even if we had had a competent QB. (As I've said before, the only area I'm really disappointed in is QB recruiting.)

In my mind, we had hit a low low. Chump's win-loss record was truly pathetic. His offenses were truly pathetic. Pathetic. Pathetic. That's the hole we were in. Even with a lot more talent next year, we're gonna be starting either LDR or a freshman. So we still have lots of climbing to do. This was always going to be a multi-year re-build, and by that I don't mean going from Chumpsuckitude to national championship contender in three years. That was a pipe dream. We first need to start looking like a top ten team. We've had one such team in seven years, and that was five years ago, which is way past the memories of most high school talent. So there's good reason there's little to no buzz about our program. The offenses have been among the worst in college football. Thankfully that's improving. Will it be enough to start attracting the truly top talent. Let's all hope so. But let's get to top ten first--and be okay with it, not as a permanent fixture, but as a step on the way to the top.
